For international Women's Day, UNESCO, OWSD and TCC Africa were honored to host the African academic community for a webinar on social justice and Gender in Universities.
To commemorate International Women’s Day 2023, with the support of UNESCO and the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), the Training Centre in Communication (TCC Africa) was honored to host the community of African researchers and academics for a webinar titled ‘Social Justice & Gender in Universities.
In observance of the events theme “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality”, the guest speakers explored various challenges faced by women in universities due to disparities in citations compared to their male colleagues and the impact this has on their careers.

Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD)
The Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) is an international organization founded in 1987 and based at the offices of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), in Trieste, Italy. It is a programme unit of UNESCO.
OWSD is the first international forum to unite eminent women scientists from the developing and developed worlds with the objective of strengthening their role in the development process and promoting their representation in scientific and technological leadership. Training Centre in Communication(TCC Africa)
The Training Centre in Communication(TCC Africa), is the first African-based training centre to teach effective communication skills to scientists. TCC Africa is an award-winning Trust, established as a non-profit entity in 2006 and is registered in Kenya. TCC Africa provides capacity support in improving researchers output and visibility through training in scholarly and science communication. Find out more here!
