TCC Africa partnered with Knowledge Unlatched and the Kenya Libraries and Information Services Consortium (KLISC) to introduce Open Access Research Discovery Tool, The Open Research Library, to the Kenyan Academic Community.
The workshop was introduced by Prof Joseph Kavulya, KLISC Chairperson and Director of Library Services at Chuka University who through his opening statement, remarked on how the Kenyan academic community is adopting Open Access as a means to improve and increase her output, hence why it is essential to understand new resources that can aid in this goal.
The Open Research Library, through Knowledge Unlatched, is planned to include all Open Access content worldwide on one platform for user-friendly discovery of publications covering different disciplines, aiding in research output visibility and accessibility.

Knowledge Unlatched is an organization that offers an opportunity for libraries and publishers from around the world to work together to create a sustainable route to Open Access for scholarly books and journals in the Humanities and Social Sciences and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Medicine.

KLISC was established in 2003 with the main objective of collective subscription to electronic resources to cope with the increasing cost of information resources. The consortium draws its membership from University Libraries, Research institutions, Public/National Libraries.
The Training Centre in Communication(TCC Africa), is the first African-based training centre to teach effective communication skills to scientists. TCC Africa is an award-winning Trust, established as a non-profit entity in 2006 and is registered in Kenya. TCC Africa provides capacity support in improving researchers’ output and visibility through training in scholarly and science communication.
