Advocacy and Capacity Building in Open Access & Open Science to top management staff in African Higher Education Institutions

TCC Africa (Training Centre in Communication), PLOS (Public Library of Science), and AAU (Association of African Universities) collaborated with the intent to increase awareness and education of Open Science and Open Access in Africa.

The three organizations converged on the 26th of April 2022 for the first of a four-part regional blended workshop addressing the pushback and advocating for the Adoption and Implementation of Open Science and Open Access practices in member institutions of the AAU. It features various higher education stakeholders including Presidents, Vice-Chancellors, Rectors, Deputy Vice-Chancellors, Directors of Research, and Libraries of African Universities.

TCC Africa, PLOS, and AAU are all heavily invested in an Open future and want to work with stakeholders across the scholarly communication ecosystem of Africa to promote and increase uptake of Open Access and Open Science more broadly.

About the Association for African Universities
