TCC Africa, with its supporting partners Knowledge Unlatched, Digital Science, and Scholarcy, was honored to be hosted by the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) for a workshop on using open-access research discovery and AI tools. The academic community was encouraged to use and integrate the tools within their research workflows to improve research outputs’ visibility and discoverability.

Wilson de Souza from Knowledge Unlatched, introduced the Open Research Library, as a user-friendly platform that enhances the discovery of worldwide open-access publications covering different disciplines.

Joy Owango, from TCC Africa, led a demonstration on how to access and utilize the citation database, Dimensions, in exploring research grants, publications, citations, clinical trials, patents, and policy documents in one place.

In her presentation, Emma Warren-Jones, the co-founder of the online summarize tool, Scholarly, introduced the platform as a tool that can quickly identify the key points and arguments of research papers as well as more easily critically analyze papers to understand how the research builds on or differs from prior studies and effectively interpret large collections of articles.

Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) is a public university in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. It is accredited by the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU). Research features prominently in the institutional focus of the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences. The university is engaged in over 40 major research endeavours.
