LIBSENSE Africa - Breaking down silos across infrastructures to improve the visibility of African research outputs.

LIBSENSE (Library Support for Embedded NREN Services and E-infrastructure) is an African-wide programme aimed at building a community of practice for open science and progressing the adoption of open science services and infrastructures in Africa. Launched in 2016, LIBSENSE aims to bring together the research and education networks (RENs) and academic library communities to strengthen open access and open science in Africa. This panel will convene several African representatives to discuss the current open science landscape in their country. Panel members will discuss the relationships and interoperability needed between institutional, national, and international open science infrastructures in order to ensure a more cohesive environment for open science in Africa and to ensure international visibility of African content. We will use climate change science as a case study to highlight this challenge.
