Training Centre in Communication(TCC Africa) hosted the University of Port Harcout, Nigeria, for a workshop on using open access research discovery solutions to improve their research output and visibility.
Researchers embrace a variety of tools in their research cycle to actively promote and improve the success of their academic work. Among these tools are a variety of open access research discovery solutions that increase research output visibility and accessibility.
TCC Africa partnered with the University of Port Harcourt to introduce one of these tools , Dimensions, to their early career researchers. Dimensions is a citation database used for research discovery and analytics.
Founded in 1975, University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) is a second-generation Federal University located in the Niger-Delta region of Nigeria with over 50,000 students and a strong focus in Petroleum Engineering. Formerly known as University College, Port Harcourt, UNIPORT has been ranked amongst the top ten universities in Africa and as the first in Nigeria by Times Higher Education (THE); a UK-based source for higher education information.
The Training Centre in Communication(TCC Africa), is the first African-based training centre to teach effective communication skills to scientists. TCC Africa is an award-winning Trust, established as a non-profit entity in 2006 and is registered in Kenya. TCC Africa provides capacity support in improving researchers’ output and visibility through training in scholarly and science communication.
